Creating Sustainable Practice-Based Nursing Research Centers

The American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet organizations are expected to conscientiously integrate evidence-based practice and nursing research into the fabric of clinical and operational processes. It is the expectation that Magnet organizations will have established programs of practice-based nursing research. Nurse leaders need guidance on establishing and strengthening practice-based centers of nursing research. This article summarizes key literature to create sustain-able centers. The critical roles of nurse leaders and nurse researchers are reviewed. Additional evidence is provided related to meaningful design of research studies and evidence-based practice projects. The article concludes with recommendations for advancing practice-based nursing research centers.
