A 1-V 109.1-dB SNDR 185.2-dB FoMs DSM Based on An Output Swing Enhanced Gain-Boost Inverter

This paper presents a single-loop 3rd-order single-bit delta-sigma modulator based on an output swing enhanced gain-boost inverter. Compared to the typical structures, the proposed output swing enhanced gain-boost inverter can improve DC gain and output swing simultaneously while only using typical threshold voltage devices, which can reduce cost and process complexity. The proposed inverter-based modulator is designed and simulated in a 180-nm CMOS process. Simulation results show that the modulator achieves a 109.1-dB SNDR in 2.5-kHz bandwidth while the power consumption is only 62-μW under a 1-V supply, leading to a 185.2-dB FoMs, which has a great application potential in internet of things (IoT) and wearable devices.
