摘要
Industrial wastewater is a leading environmental issue all over the globe. Chemical dyes, toxins, harmful chemicals, and pathogenic bacteria are among the diverse organic and inorganic contaminants found in extreme concentrations in water bodies. This chapter documents the implication of metal nanoparticles, metal oxide nanoparticles, metal nanocomposites, and capped metal nanoparticles in the treatment of organic dyes, organic and inorganic molecules, and pathogenic microbes present in industrial wastewater. Many existing wastewater-related problems may be effectively addressed using different nanostructures based on the chemical and physical properties of sorbents and pollutants, according to advances in nanoscience and nanotechnology. The identification of zero-valent iron mediated oxidation of halogenated aliphatics sparked investigations into the interactions of halogenated organics with different transition metals. Ecofriendly amino acid, glutathione acts as a cross-linker for further enhancement of adsorbability of xanthan.
