Cardiothoracic Transplant: Lung Transplantation focuses on research including the assessment, optimization, and selection of candidates for lung transplantation (LTX), donor optimization, the use of organs from donation after circulatory death donors, the use of ultrasound to assess donor lung function, and outcomes using marginal donors, as well as recipient factors affecting LTX, including age, disease, the use of extracorporeal life support, and COVID-19. The remainder of the article focuses on the perioperative management of LTX, including antirejection strategies, as well as recent multiorganizational recommendations on the care of these patients.
