摘要
Neutrons are extremely valuable probes that need to be utilized efficiently. Beam splitting is an effective approach for optimizing the number of neutron beamlines. In this study, we investigated thermal beam splitting at the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) in an extremely narrow space of a single channel. We successfully conducted beam splitting of the No. 8 beamline. The physical performance of the main beamline (Engineering Materials Diffractometer) is hardly affected at: ∼1 × 107 n/cm 2/s at 49.5 m/100 kW using the McStas simulations, and the split beam (Neutron technology development station) also has a good physical performance and meets the requirements: ∼5 × 106 n/cm 2/s at 31.5 m/100 kW using the McStas simulations. We believe that our findings will serve as a significant reference for beam splitting of the No. 10 beamline at the CSNS and other neutron sources.
