Temperature-responsive hydrogel for tumor embolization therapy

Interventional therapy can effectively prolong the life of cancer patients and has great application prospects in the treatment of malignant tumors such as primary liver cancer. Thermosensitive gels have become one of the new hotspot carriers for the treatment of tumors in recent years. It has good biocompatibility as an embolic agent, which is variable in size; it can effectively act as a drug reservoir and prolong the retention time of the drug. In response to temperature changes, it becomes gelatinous to achieve rapid embolization, which can avoid the problem of ectopic embolization caused by embolic agents such as lipiodol and microspheres. In this paper, the research progress of embolization materials such as chitosan, polyacrylamide, and poloxamers are reviewed to provide a reference for the development and application of thermosensitive gels.
