摘要
Plants have an intrinsic defense mechanism to defend themselves from different pathogens and activate suitable genetic mechanisms inside the cells via proteins. These proteins are encoded by a class of defense-related genes known as "R-genes". Nucleotide-binding site—leucine-rich repeats (NBS-LRRs) proteins recognize the pathogens directly or indirectly and activate downstream signaling pathways, which activate defense response. In the present study, the detailed analysis of NBS-LRR genes in mungbean ( Vigna radiata) and their expression in two mungbean yellow mosaic India virus ( MYMIV )-resistant wild Vigna accessions, PRR 2008-2 ( V. umbellata ) and TCR-20 ( V. glabrescens ), have been studied. Total of 87 VrNBS proteins were identified in mungbean genome and their subsequent classification and characterization were done. The expression of VrNBS-LRR genes in the wild non-progenitor Vigna species revealed that the MYMIV resistance in both the species follows different pathways. Therefore, the present study demonstrated the expression of VrNBS genes in wild Vigna background. The informations generated in present study will provide a valuable resource. The study also gives a clue for utilizing wild Vigna gene pool for improving MYMIV resistance in mungbean.
