Abstract
•The application and influencing factors of VDRS in the “last-mile” and “first-mile” of travel were studied.•The influence of COVID-19 on the use of VDRS was analyzed.•The advantages of VDRS compared with other transportation modes were also evaluated.•Important policy implications for improving VDRS are discussed.
