摘要
Recently, we have read with great interest Nishino M and colleagues' article [ [1] Nishino M. Egami Y. Kawanami S. et al. Prognostic impact of cardiovascular polypharmacy on octogenarians with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Int. J. Cardiol. 2023; 378 (S0167-5273(23)00237-1): 55-63 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (2) Google Scholar ] that was published in International Journal of Cardiology. In their study, Nishino M et al. elucidated that prognostic impact of cardiovascular polypharmacy (CP) on octogenarians in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Defined as ≥5 cardiovascular medications, CP is particularly common in the frail older people, significantly and independently correlated with the composite end point (CE). Furthermore, diuretics were correlated with CE, suggested that it may be most beneficial to reduce or stop diuretics during follow-up at the outpatient clinic after discharge if possible. It's extrapolated that CP as a prognostic factor driven by HF rehospitalization in octogenarians with HFpEF.
