A Study on the English Translation of the Articles on Tremor Syndrome in Golden Chamber Synopsis from the Perspective of Polysystem Theory

objective This Thesis aims at proposing new ideas on the translation strategy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) classics by selecting light texts in two different translations of Golden Chamber Synopsis (Luo Xiwen' s and Li Zhaoguo' s) and dividing them into seven categories including basic concepts of TCM, disease patterns (Bing Zheng), Interpretation of the causes (Bing Ji), causes of diseases (Bing Yin), Symptoms/Signs, therapies (Zhi Fa) and decoctions. Method Establish a database through Microsoft Excel 2019 and other software, then conduct frequency analysis from the perspective of PolySystem Theory. Result Luo's translation is dominated by the low-level secondary translation strategy, supplemented by the primary translation strategy. While Li's translation is mainly based on the primary translation strategy (52.0%), supplemented by the low-level secondary translation strategy (27.6%). Conclusion With the centralizing of statue of TCM culture system in poly system, the translation strategies adopted by translators have been changed, which means that more foreignization translation strategies will be put into practice.
