摘要
Data mining by integrating various omics studies has been observed as an effective way of revealing the host–pathogen intricacies, especially in the case of a polyphagous pathogen like S. sclerotiorum . The comprehensive profiling of the multi-omics datasets comprising transcriptome, proteome, metabolome, secretome, and degradome, datasets could assist in effectively delineating the interacting factors determining the host and pathogen response during the disease establishment. Integrating the genetic studies with high throughput omics results facilitates understanding the holistic view of the host's target molecules for the pathogen's virulence factor. This approach will also delineate the functional interplays amongst the genes, protein, metabolites, secreted peptides, signaling cascade, small RNAs, and any long non-coding RNAs. Functional validation tools like RNAi and CRISPR/Cas9 further assist in determining the fate of a gene or set of genes destined for trait improvement in the host. Therefore, associative analysis of the different omics output with the characterization tool would swift the process of bridging the knowledge gap of the hemibiotrophic colonization of oilseed Brassica by the S. sclerotiorum pathogen.
