Chemical Composition of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. and Chrysin Protective Activity on Neuron Cells

present, the global population is aging severely and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases have a very serious impact on human society and patients. The plant of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. is a Traditional Chinese Medicine commonly used to treat vomiting, which has been found in recent years to produce neuroprotective effects. In this study, chemical consitituents of the ethyl acetate extract fraction of the dried fruits of A. oxyphylla was analyzed and 15 compounds were isolated, three of which were identified for the first time. The neuroprotective effect of chrysin was verified by glutamate-induced PC12 cells.
