Robust polyethylene sensor complex for multi-dimensional monitoring

The intelligentization of high-yield and low-cost polyethylene (PE) can facilitate popularizing of advanced technologies in large-scale industries. However, their chemical inertness makes the development of intelligent PE materials challenging. In this study, we developed a highly sensitive and freely designed multidimensional detection flexible sensor using low-density polyethylene (LDPE) tape as a model. The sensor prepared via a green photochemical reaction did not change the characteristics of the PE material itself and retained the mechanical properties of the raw materials to a maximum extent. More importantly, the lightweight, self-adhesive, and portable design of the sensors allows multiple sensors to work independently of each other and in concert for accurate sensing and monitoring of complex multidimensional directions. These robust, low-cost, and self-adhesive flexible sensor groups can be efficiently prepared under mild conditions and can be highly designed. Thus, we believe that this would be conducive to large-scale production.
