Presence of left renal vein stenosis in the development of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy

Prior research suggests placental mechanisms as a pathophysiologic explanation for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, but little research exists on the role of renal venous compression by the gravid uterus. Prior work has suggested radiologic evidence of significant left renal vein (LRV) compression in the gravid patient, particularly in supine position. Our study aims to assess the degree of LRV stenosis stratified by maternal position and its association with development of hypertensive disorders.
