Effect of sound sequence on soundscape emotions

•Number of sound sources was negatively/positively correlated with the pleasantness/arousal dimension.•Changing trend in the number of sound sources impacted the variation of emotions.•Category of sound sources have a decisive effect on emotions.•Model composed of three aspects of sound sources could explain 33.2%/28.8% for pleasantness/arousal dimension.
