•The vein structure in HOPG and the vertical-scale structure in ET-10 were found.•The joint effects of ion irradiation and temperature on graphite were discussed.•The difference between recovery degree of HWHM(G) and ID/IG was examined.•Detailed Raman features at various irradiation doses and temperature were studied.
