•Magnetic moment in PMB had alignment capabilities and the threshold for changing direction increased with deflection angle.•Radial force exhibited variations depending on offset direction, with increased sensitivity to axial offset at Z = 0.•Axial force and stiffness were affected by axial offset but insensitive to deflection angle.
