Progresses in experimental study of mantle melt connectivity

Geological melt/fluid is an important carrier of material exchange and energy transfer in the Earth's interior, and its connectivity is mainly characterized by dihedral angle. Experimental study on the connectivity of mantle melt is of great significance for a comprehensive understanding of the accumulation and migration of mantle melt, magmatic evolution, core-mantle differentiation in early Earth, and interpretation of geophysically observed low-velocity and high-conductivity anomalies. This paper briefly introduces and reviews the theoretical basis of mantle melt connectivity, research progresses of various influence factors (temperature, pressure, composition, volatile, etc.) on the connectivity of melts (including silicate, carbonate and metallic melts) in partially molten system under static and dynamic conditions, and some applications in geoscience. The main purpose of this review is to let more domestic scholars have a deeper understanding of this field.
