摘要
In this study, the topical cream based on the nanoformulation of ethyl acetate fraction extract of Chromolaena odorata leaf (EA.ChO NPs cream) was developed via oil-in-water emulsion, in which phenolic compounds, pri-mary bioactive ingredients were encapsulated in the Pluronic micelles before formulating in cream. The resultant cream exposed good homogeneity, suitable pH value and the slow and sustained phenolics released as well as good stability for long-term storage. The free radical scavengers were diminished from 10% to 80% when DPPH was incubated with EA.ChO NPs cream from 15 min to 5 h. In addition, with the suitable release of phenolic compounds, the cream promoted the fibroblast cell migration while the raw extract as the same concentration induced the toxicity that prevents the close of wound. Notably, the velocity of wound closure in deep second-degree burn mice model was quicker in the cream-treated group in comparison with untreated and standard-treated groups. Histological study also demonstrated the better results of the epidermal regeneration and collagen deposition observed in the wound bed treating with cream. All the obtained results provide a great potential of topical cream based on the nanoformulation of Chromolaena odorata extract for enhancing the effectiveness of wound healing.
