Cascaded Control Based on Super Twisting Algorithm for DC-DC Converter

This paper presents a robust control law based on a super twisting algorithm (STA) to regulate the output voltage of a DC-DC buck converter, through two cascaded loops. The objective is to regulate the output voltage of the converter with the improvement of the response of the two distinct and nested external and internal control loops. Comparative tests between the proposed cascaded control law and the conventional PI controller include the comparison between the transient response of the output voltage under load changes and the tracking of the reference in case of set point modification. The obtained results prove that the designed super-twisting algorithm achieves the fastest convergence with a reduction of chattering.
