The Optimization of the Safety and Energy Efficiency in a UAV-Assisted Communication System

It is well known that both safety and energy consumption should be of great concern in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)-assisted communication technology. In this paper, we studied the safety and energy efficiency in a UAV-assisted communication system in which there is a UAV, a ground terminal (GT) and an eavesdropper. The safety and energy efficiency was defined as the total secrecy rate in the case of considering UAV propulsion energy consumption only during its service period. Since the objective function formulated as maximizing the safety and energy efficiency is non-convex, we proposed an iterative sequential convex programming (SCP)-based algorithm to seek a suboptimal solution. Simulation results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively improve the safety and energy efficiency of the system.
