Developing a Real-Time Monitoring System in View to Analyze and Assess the Performance of Standalone PV System Along with Its Two PV Module Technologies Located in Northern Algeria

Standalone photovoltaic systems (SAPV) monitoring and performance analysis from the collected data is of great importance for detecting system failures and optimizing future SAPV system design. This paper develops a real-time monitoring system to analyze and assess the performance of a 3.6 kW SAPV system composed of two sub-arrays with two PV module technologies (Monocrystalline (M-Si) and Polycrystalline (Pol-Si)) installed on one of the Renewable Energy Development Center (CDER) building’s roofs in northern Algeria, Bouzaréah city. The monitored data is displayed on a graphical user interface using LabVIEW. Besides, data can be displayed on other remote devices so an external user can see the daily evolution of all monitored and derived parameters. The results of the monitoring demonstrate the significant impact of dust, temperature variations, and irradiance changes on the output power of the studied SAPV.
