摘要
Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a major cause of disability on a global scale with a global prevalence of 23% (95%CI, 20-26%) in patients aged 40 and older. In such a patient population, there is likely to be a diverse list of co-morbidities resulting in a diverse list of concomitant medication. Reports have suggested that antihistamine use and Vitamin D-supplementation may reduce development of OA and may be associated with reduced risk of structural progression. In this analysis, we aim to investigate the potential effect of antihistamines, Vitamin D, and other commonly used concomitant medications on the progression of OA, specifically change in joint space width (JSW) by comparing users to non-users over a two-year period.
