摘要

•Heavy metals were assessed in dried fishes from major fishing villages in Kerala.•Metal accumulation in the dried fishes was in the decreasing order: Zn>Pb>Cu>Cr>Cd.•Pb concentrations were notably higher in the dried fishes from Kerala coast.•Dried fishes collected from Azhikode & Munambam areas had more metal accumulation.•Origin of metals can be attributed to anthropogenic actions persistent in the area.
