Towards 6G: The Evolution of Passive Optical Networks

Next-generation PONs are being considered as an optical transport solution for 6G mobile networks. Nonetheless, to support a heterogeneity of immersive services, challenges in meeting differing quality-of-service requirements in a dynamic network, must be addressed. These will be discussed following an overview of PON technology evolution.
