摘要
Introduction: The 5th Pulmonary Department of Chest Diseases Hospital “Sotiria” hospitilized exclusively COVID-19 patients during the period March-May 2020 and September 2020-November 2021. Aim: The comparison of the outcome between fully vaccinated (two doses, booster dose was not offered during the study period) and unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated patients against SARS-CoV-2. Results: 504 patients with COVID-19 were included in the study. The demographic and clinical characteristics were studied. 282(55,9%) were men, mean age 58,7± 19,6, mean duration of hospitalization 15,7±10,8 days, 483(95,83%) of them were unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated. The outcome was favorable (recovery without need of HFNC application, admission to ICU, or endotracheal intubation) for 413(81,94%) of them, 14(2,77%) needed HFNC application, 16(3,17%) HFNC application and admission to ICU and 24(4,76%) endotracheal intubation. We recorded 38(7,53%) deaths. Τhe demographic data regarding the history of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 are presented in the following table. 368 patients in 2021 are included in this analysis (the vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 are available since January 2021 in Greece). Logistic regression analysis: Unfarovable outcome: death, ICU admission, need of HFNC application. Odds ratio (OR) A/B = 4,35. Conclusion: Vaccinated patients against SARS-CoV-2 are older and have better outcomes compared with unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated patients with similar disease/treatment characteristics.
