摘要

•PLA-lined cup released 3.6 times higher microplastics (MPs) than PE-lined cup.•Ethanol separated MPs, additive and cellulose microparticles release from PLA cup.•No cellulose fibres were found on PE cup’s lining or hot water contained in the cup.•Lots of cellulose fibres on PLA cup’s lining were removed during hot water exposure.•Real MPs level could be higher due to test limits and particles attachments.
