摘要
The liver is a major organ that filters absorbed intestinal luminal contents and the blood and is consequently susceptible to damage resulting from intestinal pathogens or bloodborne infections. In addition to hepatitis A to E, there are a number of other viruses that have been shown to be hepatotropic or associated with elevations in the liver enzyme. Some of the viral diseases sometimes involve the liver as part of systemic infections. The liver can also be involved in various infectious diseases caused by bacterial, parasitic, or fungal organisms. The epidemiology, common manifestation, diagnosis and treatment of the various hepatic infections are shown in this chapter. This chapter summarizes liver disease caused by systemic viral infections and other nonviral pathogens including bacterial, parasitic, or fungal infections.
