摘要
This chapter highlights the waqf practices in the selected Southeast Asia countries, especially on the collaborations related to waqf practices. An interesting fact about Southeast Asia is the intact and robust bond and the relations among the nations. Thus, the objective of this chapter is to show readers how waqf has been implemented in those selected Southeast Asia countries. Southeast Asia has two distinctive geographic regions: Firstly, the Mainland Southeast Asia, which includes: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Peninsular Malaysia; and secondly, the Indo-Malay Archipelago, which includes: Brunei, East Malaysia, all the islands of Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Timor-Leste. This chapter focuses on Indonesia as it has the highest Muslim population, followed by Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines. Next, the chapter also highlights the collaboration of Waqf among Southeast Asia countries, especially the countries with a minor Muslim population. This chapter will begin with a glance at the selected countries, followed by information on the Muslim population. Finally, this chapter will highlight how waqf operates in Southeast Asia countries and the relationship and cooperation among the neighboring Muslim countries.
