摘要
Controlled Automated Reperfusion of the whoLe body (CARL) is designed to limit the reperfusion injury after cardiac arrest. Core of this therapeutic approach is an individual and therefore personalized therapy based on a readily available set of monitoring data and diagnostic findings. This approach executes multiple single demands and steps based on the current knowledge of limiting ischemia reperfusion injury into a global treatment concept. The method refers to an intensive research and technical transfer to gain control over physical and biochemical perfusion conditions. CARL was designed not only to restore circulation but to treat the sequelae of ischemic injury of the whole body by an initial controlled reperfusion phase to improve neurologic intact survival in patients suffering from cardiac arrest.
