An Effective and Efficient Synthesis Technique for Linear Array Thinning
2021 CIE International Conference on Radar (Radar)(2021)
Abstract
In this contribution we will discuss the fast synthesis of thinning uniformly spaced linear arrays that are going to become a key technology of 5G. The new technique is proposed for the synthesis of linear array thinning which aims at reducing peak sidelobe level. By means of the iterative Chirp-Z transform integrated with an adaptively changing fill factor mechanism, a modified iterative Chirp-Z transform (MICZT) technique is then presented. This technique solves the problems of the huge amount of computation and ease to fall into local optimal. Moreover, the technique can ensure that some characteristics of the optimized element distribution are similar to the uniform counterparts. And the effectiveness and efficiency of the MICZT technique will be validated by two representative examples and compared with the published results.
