Disaster Education Using Board Games Technique: A Case of SK Felda Bukit Tangga

Natural disaster always occurs and is observed to increase due to the changing climate. The impact of natural disaster affects people mentally, physically and economically. Disaster is the tragedy of a natural or human-made hazard, which poses a level of threat to life, health, property, or environment that negatively affects society or environment. Education is part of a component in the disaster. It is involved in the phase of preparedness and actions before and during the disaster. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of education in disaster among children using gamification technique. By using a quantitative research method, the data is collected through questionnaire. Questions that asked in the questionnaire are to access the level of awareness of the primary school students towards natural disaster related. The questionnaire is given to students before they start playing board games and also after. The pre and post evaluation helps the researcher understand the level of awareness improved. The respondent of the study involves twenty-eight students of Standard Four and Five from SK Felda Bukit Tangga. The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS. The outputs of the analysis are described in terms of descriptive only. In conclusion, the awareness level of students is increased after the gaming session. Therefore, we also can ensure that by using gamification method can help in disaster education. Future research involves getting a more significant number of respondents for more accurate results.
