Emerging Technologies and Their Advancements Toward Wastewater Treatment from Various Industries

More than two billion of the population living in the world are confronting high water scarcity. In the upcoming years, water demand will be increasing with an increase in population and advancement in industries. Thus, identifying resources that are capable of fulfilling demand and need is quite challenging. Wastewater treatment and its reuse are some of the promising possibilities. Emerging technologies are the key factor to meet the challenge of keeping progress in wastewater treatment. Therefore, emerging technologies are attracting industries for the treatment of wastewater produced by various industries to provide safe and healthy water with controlled drinking parameters. Emerging technologies for wastewater treatment associated with different industries have been presented in this chapter, focusing on the removal of hazardous contaminants and pollutants that are harmful to the environment and human health. Moreover, hybrid techniques and advancements in water treatment techniques have been discussed with a future scope of improvements to overcome certain limitations.
