Investigation of the Phase Equilibrium and Modeling of Condensate Precipitation in Interstage Cooler of the Gas Turbine Compressor

To address the issue of precipitation of condensed water in the compressor interstage cooler when the gas turbine is working, we propose a mechanism model to investigate the condensate precipitation based on the gas-liquid phase equilibrium. In the model, the equation of state and the Newton binary iteration method are used to solve the gas-liquid equilibrium equation, and the water content at the outlet of the interstage cooler is calculated. The thermodynamic formula based on saturated vapor density is used to calculate the water content at the compressor inlet. Finally, the amount of condensed water in the interstage cooler is obtained according to the law of conservation of matter. The experimental results show that the relative error is less than 1.5% which confirms the computational accuracy of the mechanism model.
