Supramolecular coordination complexes from metalloligands: Hydrogen bonding-based self-assemblies

The chapter showcases the design and synthesis of metalloligands that have been integrated with hydrogen bonding (H-bonding) sensitive functional groups. The integration of H-bonding groups endows such metalloligands to self-assembly in various ways. Both the number of H-bonding sensitive functional groups and their spatial arrangements on a metalloligand were the primary structural-directing parameters. On the other hand, lattice solvent molecules, associated cations, and solvent of crystallization were also found to significantly influence the self-assembly process of metalloligands.
