Po265 / #989 virtual reality treatment of severe neuropathic pain in an adolescent child

A thirteen-year-old boy with flat feet, underwent orthopedic surgery. As a consequence he developed chronic allodynic pain on the medial aspect of the right foot corresponding in the operated area. Gabapentin treatment gave partial and transient pain reduction, but the pain gradually resumed over 3 years and rose to an 8 on the Numeric Rating Scale. The boy dropped out of school keeping one parent at home as caretaker. Further medical and psychological interventions were unsuccessful.
