NiS2/CdS photocatalyst produced from deep eutectic solvothermal technique is efficient for visible-light-driven dehydrogenation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural into H2 and 2,5-diformylfuran at rates of up to 519.64 and 476.60 μmol g−1 h−1, respectively.
