•Portal Endovascular Rendezvous Catheterization (PERC) is a technique for durable portal and mesenteric venous wire access for research purposes.•This technique utilizes a hybrid approach with percutaneous access of the internal jugular vein and open transabdominal portal venous access.•The expertise required for transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS) are not required for PERC.
