High Accuracy Aberration Correction Based on Combination Spgd Algorithm for Free-Space Optical Communication

Adaptive optics systems (AOSs) are normally used to reduce the bit error rate for free-space optical communication (FSOC). Here combination SPGD (C-SPGD) algorithm with composite encircled energy (EE) and mean radius (MR) performance metrics is proposed to improve the correction accuracy and stability. The operating scheme is demonstrated. Static and dynamic turbulence simulations are performed with the C-SPGD method and also individual EE and MR methods. Experiments are also carried out to verify the effectiveness of the C-SPGD method. Both the simulated and experimental results reveal that excellent correction accuracy and strong stability can be obtained by the C-SPGD method. Compared with the traditional SPGD algorithms, the C-SPGD may have great superiority in dealing with the FSOC applications with high precisions.
