Programming Notations and Compilers
Synthesis Lectures on Computer Architecture(2021)
Abstract
In 1980, uniprocessor vector supercomputers were the dominant type of parallel machine. As a result, the dominant programming notations were the two most frequently used to program these machines: vector extensions to FORTRAN and conventional, scalar, FORTRAN, translated into vector form by compilers. Today, there is a much wider range of possibilities including the two just mentioned.
