•We introduce the open source simulator FLUST, as part of the UltraSound ToolBox (USTB).•FLUST produces multiple realizations of ultrasound signals from flow fields.•High integrity signals are achieved at low computational cost.•Framework includes tools for visualization and assessment of estimator performance.•Database includes customizable acquisition setups, flow phantoms and estimators.
