摘要
•Human articular cartilage protein profiling work carried out, stands novel and pioneer in the area of tissue engineering.•The extracellular matrix (ECM) decellularization preserved COL2A1, COL11A1, COL14A1, chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronidase-1.•The collagen types COL16A1 and COL26A1 showed abundance ratio indicating their role in maintaining ECM architecture.•Highly expressed miscellaneous proteins fibronectin, vimentin, BMP–6, FGF–4 can be amalgamated during ECM engineering.•The decellularized ECM can be pulverized as niche for proliferation of mesenchymal stem cells differentiated to chondrocytes.
