Resting State Brain Dynamic Alterations in Major Depressive Disorder

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is characterized by default mode network (DMN) and frontoparietal network (FPN) alterations. However, whether DMN-FPN perturbations emerge prior to or only after MDD onset remains unclear. Furthermore, previous work has focused on “static” rather than “dynamic” network properties, a potentially more sensitive MDD biomarker. We aimed to 1) characterize brain dynamics in MDD and 2) determine whether dynamic network changes are present in unaffected offspring of mothers with MDD.
