Alterations in the way the brain processes rewards are thought to underlie pleasure and motivation deficits in schizophrenia that contribute to reduced emotional well-being. Here, we employ a simple slot machine task, in which reward outcome does not depend on performance, in order to model basic reward responsivity in the absence of decision-making and/or motor response demands.
