Muscle velocity recovery cycles in myopathy

•Muscle velocity recovery cycles (MVRC), frequency ramp and EMG were performed on 42 patients with myopathy and 42 healthy controls.•MVRC and frequency ramp measures differed from controls in the non-inflammatory myopathy patients but not in inflammatory myopathy.•MVRC with frequency ramp may be a useful method for detection of abnormal membrane properties in myopathy of broad aetiology.
