Rationale: Phase angle, calculated from reactance and resistance values from bio-impedance analyses, appears to reflect cell membrane integrity and body cell count (1). Phase angle is therefore proposed to reflect physical functioning and thereby play a role in sarcopenia diagnosis, but studies confirming this idea are needed.
