Construction of antifouling zwitterionic coatings on polypropylene microporous membranes via N-hydroxyphthalimide(NHPI) catalysis

•Structure controllable zwitterionic polymer grafting modified PP microporous membranes is prepared.•The surface modified PP membranes exhibit excellent water affinity and antifouling ability.•A high-efficiency way is proposed for surface modification of polyolefin membrane.
