Photoresponsive liposomes and LipoParticles by incorporating a photosensitizer agent in their lipid membrane

•Elaboration of photoresponsive liposomes and LipoParticles incorporating a commercial photosensitizer agent (Al(III) phthalocyanine chloride disulfonic acid).•Upon UV irradiation, release of 5(6)-carboxyfluorescein from liposomes depending on their membrane lipid formulation, and could be increased by repeated irradiations.•Upon UV irradiation, release of bovine serum albumin conjugated with fluorescein isothiocyanate from LipoParticles was optimal with an elaboration temperature of 20°C, an initial PS concentration of 0.1mM, and a UV irradiation of 5 minutes.
