摘要
Adults with CF may suffer from a multitude of increasingly challenging physical and psychological health and wellbeing complexities, resulting in a compromised quality of life. This research aimed to investigate the efficacy of two mindfulness-based meditation interventions comprising of different attentional anchors (i.e., breath and sound). In a five-day study, fifteen adults with CF were randomly assigned to a breath meditation, sound meditation, or waitlist control group. Evaluative feedback was sought from participants, over a five-day period, using retrospective think-aloud and semi-structured interview methodology, as well as validated questionnaires. The results of the study form three parts, a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis comprising of statistical analyses, content analysis, and thematic analysis. The results provide preliminary findings to suggest that mindfulness meditation practices using breath and sound anchors enable the development of mindfulness skills, benefitting several health and wellbeing domains for adults with CF. Mindfulness-based meditation practices utilising breath and sound attentional anchors may provide effective psychological support to assist the health and wellbeing of the adult CF population, in a revolutionary era of increasing CF life expectancy.
