摘要
•We propose using Radial Basis Function (RBF) interpolation to increase the number of data pairs in Vertical Radial Plume Mapping (VRPM), a mass balance method used to quantify area source emissions.•Our results show that RBF interpolation significantly improves the accuracy of flux inversion, with reduced mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean square error (RMSE), especially using the Gaussian RBF interpolation method.•The average flux calculated after performing RBF interpolation is closer to the real result, reflecting the average emission level more accurately.•Our proposed method can be used to improve the accuracy of VRPM without changing the original measurement settings, providing an innovative and valuable approach for accurately quantifying fugitive gas emissions from non-point sources.
